Taking it back to the old school…..

Well maybe not back to the old school but I’ma take it back …. back ….. back to January of 09.  LOL (PS I’ma take the Dew approach to blogging – I’m going to type and if it comes out right so be it … if not so be it – it is what it is)

Hummm where to start – January was a good month.  The “Official New Year” start to Account Angel.  Although I started years ago (2004 to be exact) 2009 marks the first year that this is ALL that I will be doing.  No more punching the clock – no more getting up at 5 in the morning – no more…… or so I thought!

Starting your own business is definitely a paradigm shift (we will get into that more when we get to November) and I don’t think I was prepared the way I thought I was.  Support – yea I got it but not the way I thought I had it.

Attending church in Cincy – Inspirational Baptist – 4 times a week.  Monday Praise Dance – Tuesday Bible Study – Saturday 6:00pm service – Sunday 8:45am service then again at 11:00am service.  Needless to say – it was not only wearing me thin but my poor 1995 Astro had just about had it.   The solution … find a church closer to home.

I didn’t really want to leave because I went to jr high with the bishop and I just felt as if we had a connection that was like no other.  He knew me – from “way back when” I had a jeri curl and there is just no escaping that but I had to sit back and think… am I going to church for the right reasons.  Was I going just to hear him preach (and he IS GOOD) or was I going to get my praise on?  I finally admitted to a little of both but it was more so him than anything else.  Yep – definitely time for a change!  Need to work on building my relationship with God not with this church that I was becoming more and more attached to.

Fast forward to March (Feb was a blur full of work – normally being an accountant Feb Mar and April are my busiest months) but there was a shift in March that I want to mention.  March marked the month of the end of the relationship classes at Marriage Works!  (Yepper – that’s a WHOLE NOTHA POST SESSION) maybe I’ll tell ya’ll about that after November! LOL

March was also the month of searching for a new church home closer to home.  After visiting many MANY MANY churches – one even locked us in because the tithes and offerings only amounted to about $150.00 (pure CrAZineSS!!!!!) I think (or thought) I had found the right one!

Attending PT was a suggestion/invitation from my mentor at Marriage Works (everyone needs to go there for counseling/education) He is the best (you will see why I put HE and not THEY in another month).   PT was the friendliest church I had ever been to.  I mean – it was truly like family there.  The kids loved it (a HUGE PLUS) I mean even N loved it!  She couldn’t wait to get dressed up on Sunday to go to service (that NEVER happened before).  Not to mention – I knew about 50% of the congregation from school or other activities I have participated in throughout my 32 (31 at the time) years.  So long story short – I enjoyed myself.  Their youth ministry was really good – the teen ministry was really good – and the service! WOW is all I can say!  Did I mention the girls loved it?  Yea -the girls LOVED it!!!

So you may wonder why I am speaking in PAST TENSE…… hummmm
