“Sitting here listening to Joel Osteen before I get my day “officially” started and I started to think….. Well to start off, I am extremely anal in the morning – I wake up, pray, use the bathroom, listen to a recorded Joel Osteen episode or one of Bishops sermons on DVD/CD, then get my day started. Most of this happens within the first hour or so of opening my eyes for the day! ….. ok well back to what I was saying before I got off track – listening to Joel Olsteen and I had a revelation! Have you ever heard something over and over but you just didn’t “get” it. Well I had one of those AAAHHHHHAAAAAA moments this morning! Last night I couldn’t sleep (partly because I was reading blogs and partly because I had a LOT on my mind) but Joel said some stuff to me that really HIT me like a ton of bricks. He said – and I quote – “the setback is a setup for a comeback!”
HUMMMMM now let’s think about that in it’s entirety – set back ….. set up ….. comeback ….. Now I remember Bishop saying that same thing in a couple of his sermons but again – it didn’t HIT me like it did when I was sitting on my couch watching Joel. I need to work on myself and my faith. I went to an optimist club meeting 2 weeks ago and that was one of the BEST meeting I have been to in a LONG time. I mean – when I got there, I could instantly feel the upbeatness (is that a word) and I wanted to be part of that. So much so – I talked to the president and asked him how I would go about starting an Optimist club in my city (I was about 15-20 miles from my house and in a whole different school district) and I know that the children in OUR city need these services too! Well TMALSS – we got together to discuss how I could go about starting an O club. To start I need 35 dedicated people to join. Ok – sounds easy right right – well that’s what I thought! Calling around (chamber, city schools, local businesses) I was hit with a rough reality – a lot of people want to talk the talk but when it comes to walking they – don’t have new shoes – they don’t have the time – they don’t have the money to join! What?!?!?! Are you flipping kidding me?!?!?! This is our future …… (you will soon come to find that I am EXTREMELY passionate about our children!) the people out in C’Ville understand this! They make time to do! The find the money to help! ARGGGGG Singing “just keep on praying ….. just keep on praying….” (in the tune of Dory from Finding Nemo)
